DTI is pushing for face shields to be used voluntarily.
Secretary of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Ramon Lopez is pushing for the use of face shields to be voluntary.
Lopez said in an interview with the Daily Tribune on Friday that the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF) had proposed making face shield use voluntarily.
Even President Rodrigo Duterte, he added, is in favour of not requiring the use of a face shield.
Despite the fact that Metro Manila’s alert level system has been reduced to Level 2, Lopez stressed that wearing a face shield is still required in crowded and closed areas.
He remarked in Filipino, “Most of us have already internalized that practice of practicing basic health requirements.”
Meanwhile, Lopez has applauded the further lowering of Metro Manila’s alert level system, saying that it will help businesses recover and create jobs for Filipinos.
Earlier, Socioeconomic Planning Secretary Karl Kendrick Chua predicted that altering the alert level system in Metro Manila from Level 3 to Level 2 would add PHP3.6 billion to the economy and bring back 16,000 employment every week.
