DILG and local executives would ‘thresh out’ concerns related to the poor vax rollout.

The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) will meet with local chief executives to discuss difficulties affecting their coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) immunization campaigns.

Interior Secretary Eduardo Ao said in a phone conversation with reporters on Thursday that this is part of the government’s goal of providing at least 1 million to 1.5 million doses by November 30.

“We’ll hash it out, what exactly is your problem? (Can you tell me about your issues?) Is there a scarcity of cold storage facilities? How are vaccines transported from the provincial capital to the municipalities and barangays? The PNP (Philippine National Police), the AFP (Armed Forces of the Philippines), and the Bureau of Fire Protection would all make their resources available to local government entities in order to get vaccines closer to the people. How will they get people to vaccination clinics as well? We’ll talk about it “he stated

President Rodrigo Duterte voiced discontent with the current Covid-19 immunization deployment in his Wednesday Talk to the People.

The DILG will also set up a monitoring system to ascertain how many vaccines were provided to each LGU and how many were administered “on a day to day basis,” according to Ao.

Meanwhile, he voiced displeasure with the poor pace of vaccination in Central Luzon and Calabarzon, despite the fact that these areas are close to Metro Manila, which has a high immunization rate.

“They move at a snail’s pace.” They were outperformed by the other regions. For example, Davao City outperformed them. So there’s a problem,” he added, without elaborating on specific sites in these regions.

Despite the fact that he does not have exact data, Ao claims that vaccination rates in these areas are substantially lower than they should be at this point when they should be between 60 and 70 percent.

Meanwhile, he stated that the DILG will issue show-cause orders to LGUs that are underperforming in their immunization programs, as well as those that have reported vaccine wastage occurrences.
