Domestic flights are maintained by the airline in order to transport ‘eligible’ passengers.

Despite a decision passed by the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) prohibiting the mobility of unvaccinated individuals, budget carrier AirAsia Philippines declared on Wednesday that its domestic operations will continue.

The MMDA asked local government units in the National Capital Region (NCR) to draft ordinances prohibiting the unvaccinated and minors from going outside, except for essential activities, in its Resolution 22-01, series of 2022.

AirAsia has stated that it will continue to transport fully vaccinated passengers as well as non-vaccinated critical passengers.

“We will continue to fly qualified vaccinated passengers and unvaccinated guests with required travel passes exclusively,” AirAsia Philippines spokesperson Steve Dailisan said in a statement, citing the resolution signed by Metro Manila Mayors.

He went on to say that the airline is confident in the sustained high demand for air travel among those who have been vaccinated.

Having all of the carrier’s flight and ground workers completely vaccinated is one of the carrier’s mitigating actions, he said.

Cebu Pacific (CEB) announced the cancellation of a number of domestic flights from January 4 to 10.

Passengers may use flexibility choices if they wish to postpone their travel, according to both CEB and AirAsia on Wednesday.

Those with CEB domestic flights between Jan. 5 and 15 can still change their flights up to two hours before the scheduled departure time.

They can rebook for travel within 60 days or put the booking value into a two-year travel fund, according to the company.

CEB also advised customers to manage their bookings online till further notice, as its ticket office in NAIA Terminal 3 will be closed.

Passengers with AirAsia, on the other hand, can manage their reservations online, subject to fare differences.
