Coronavirus infections continue to rise among the ranks of the Philippine National Police (PNP).

The PNP Health Service reported in its Covid-19 bulletin on Monday that 436 new cases brought the overall number of active cases to 1,884 out of 43,603 confirmed cases since the epidemic began.

In a statement, PNP Chief Gen. Dionardo Carlos said, “Thankfully, many of the Covid cases among our police officers had mild symptoms, which will simply require home or facility isolation.”

Meanwhile, five fresh recoveries raised the total number of active cases to 41,954, with 125 deaths.

Carlos guaranteed that the increase in illnesses will have no impact on the police force’s activities.

“We have a deployment system in place wherein if a member of the police unit is isolated, people who are not in communication with him or her take over.” “Of course, swab testing is something we do on a regular basis,” Carlos remarked, adding that he had also tested positive for Covid-19.

He added that work continues for individuals who are asymptomatic but can still perform their duties, whether at home or at a facility.

Carlos also emphasized the need of maintaining a healthy body and mind in order to properly serve as front-line responders in the fight against this deadly epidemic.

According to PNP data, 215,779 personnel (95.76%) have been fully vaccinated, while 8,130 (3.61%) are awaiting their second shot.

There are still 1,424 PNP members (0.63 percent) who have not received any immunization doses.
