Last year, the Bureau of Customs (BOC) earned more than PHP1 billion in additional income through its Post Clearance Audit Group (PCAG).

PCAG chief Assistant Commissioner Vincent Philip Maronilla said in a statement on Monday that the agency earned PHP1,522,216,793.42 from 349 Audit Notice Letters (ANL) issued from January to December 2021.

He also stated that this year’s revenue collection is 25% higher than the previous year’s.

At the same time, from 2019 to 2021, the agency hopes to legally collect additional revenue from pending post-clearance audits.

There are already 55 demand letters totaling PHP12,468,110,546.82 that have become final and executory due to the audited importers’ refusal to challenge them.

These are now being forwarded to the BOC Legal Service for the requisite collection action to be filed.

Meanwhile, Commissioner Rey Leonardo Guerrero stressed the importance of post-clearance auditing and the additional cash it provides, particularly as the country recovers from the effects of the coronavirus outbreak in 2019. (Covid-19).
