The Philippine National Police (PNP) said on Thursday that there are now over 3,000 active cases of coronavirus disease in 2019 (Covid-19).

This comes after 450 new cases brought the total number of active cases to 3,262, out of a total of 44,635 confirmed illnesses since the epidemic began.

Meanwhile, 31 more cases were collected, bringing the total number of recovered cases to 41,248 while the death toll remained at 125.

Many of the Covid cases among police employees, according to PNP chief Gen. Dionardo Carlos, have mild symptoms and will just require home or facility isolation.

Carlos guaranteed that the increase in illnesses will have no impact on the police force’s activities.

As the number of Covid-19 infections among PNP employees continues to rise, the PNP has erected extra quarantine facilities and beds inside its Camp Crame headquarters.

Meanwhile, for Covid-19 cases, the Kiangan Emergency Treatment Facility remains the principal quarantine facility in Camp Crame.

Carlos also mentioned that asymptomatic individuals could be sent home on quarantine, but they must report their regular physical states to the medical staff in charge of surveillance.

Rest assured that our operational capabilities and performance will not be impacted by the rising number of positive instances in the police force,” he said.

According to PNP data, 216,166 workers (95.93%) have received their entire vaccination, while 7,824 (3.47%) are awaiting their second dose.

A total of 1,343 PNP members (0.60 percent) had yet to receive the immunization.
