‘Odette’ victims receive 10,000 food boxes from a group.
The Pitmasters Foundation, a group of e-sabong (online cockfighting) operators, has delivered 10,000 food packets to towns in Southern Leyte that have been devastated by Typhoon Odette.
A total of 3,000 food packets would be distributed to typhoon victims in Southern Leyte within the next week, according to Bernie Tacoy, founder of BGT Cares Foundation, a Pitmasters-affiliated organization.
Rice, canned items, and powdered milk are all included in each bundle.
“We’re also preparing tens of thousands of health kits for medical missions in places hit hard by Typhoon Odette.” “Our objective is to aid people in times of need, not only do business through e-sabong,” Tacoy told reporters on Monday.
According to Tacoy, the organisation has offered PHP2.8 million in post-typhoon assistance to people in Southern Leyte.
“Rebuilding the fishing boats that were wrecked by the hurricane is one of our plans,” he continued.
The core group of the Pitmasters Association includes 500 members around the country. It was founded by the Philippines’ United Association of Cockpit Owners and Operators.
Since the government approved e-operation sabong’s in mid-2020, the organization has distributed PHP715 million in financial aid to low-income families around the country.
