If you don’t vote, don’t complain about it, says a Comelec executive.
On Friday, a Commission on Elections (Comelec) official stated that people who do not intend to vote on May 9 should reassess their plans.
James Jimenez, a Comelec spokesman, emphasized that the people, particularly registered voters, should utilize their right to vote in order for their opinions to be heard.
“You’re not voting because you think all politicians are the same?” Consider the following: If you do not vote to change things, nothing will change. “#votesafepilipinas,” he declared in a tweet on his @jabjimenez account.
Jimenez made his views in reaction to some comments that no matter who they support or how they vote in elections, they believe nothing will change.
People should not complain, according to Jimenez, if they are not willing to try to remedy the problem.
“Then it’s pointless to complain, isn’t it?” You’re a part of the problem if you don’t push through your aggravation and strive to address the problem. “It’s just whiny,” he explained.
In the May 9 elections, the voters will elect the country’s new leaders, including the president and vice-president.
According to the tentative list of aspirants/candidates presented on the Comelec website, www.comelec.gov.ph, as of January 19, there are 10 and 9 aspirants for the presidential and vice-presidential positions, respectively.
In addition, the Filipino people will elect 12 senators and 63 party-list members.
253 district representatives, 81 governors, 81 vice governors, 782 provincial board members, 146 city mayors, 146 city vice mayors, 1,650 city councilors, 1,488 municipal mayors, 1,488 municipal vice mayors, and 11,908 municipal councilors are among the local offices.
There are 40 party representatives, 32 parliamentary district representatives, and eight reserved and sectoral representatives up for election in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) votes.
