The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) said in late-Friday advice that the registration transaction slip for the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) should be kept safe to guarantee that personal information is kept private.

The public service announcement warned people not to share the transaction slip on social media.

The transaction slip, along with any acceptable ID, must be handed to the courier upon delivery of the PhilID card, according to the advice.

“Ang inyong transaction slip ay mahalaga para masiguro na maibibigay ang PhilID sa tamang may-ari,” the PSA stated.

The PSA’s official courier partner, PHLPost, will attempt to deliver the PhilID three times, free of charge, to the owner’s home address.

Unclaimed PhilIDs will be delivered to the nearest Post Office to the card owner’s home address, where they can be claimed within 30 days.

The PSA stated that the transaction slip contains the registrants’ personal information.

The Philippines can move away from inefficient and costly physical documents, processes, and credentials thanks to PhilSys.

President Rodrigo R. Duterte signed Republic Act 11055, or the Philippine Identification System Act, into law in August 2018, with the goal of creating a single national ID for all Filipinos and resident immigrants.

The national ID will serve as valid evidence of identity that will make public and private transactions, school enrollment, and bank account opening easier.

It will also increase efficiency, particularly when dealing with government services, because people will simply be required to provide their ID during transactions.
