According to the Department of Health (DOH), a sustained increase in coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) has been documented in the Visayas and Mindanao.

The Department of Health (DOH) reported that infections in the Visayas grew by 87.35 percent from the previous week, while infections in Mindanao increased by 164.72 percent.

“Based on their seven-day moving average since Jan. 19, 2022, Regions 6 (Western Visayas), 7 (Central Visayas), and 11 (Davao Region) have been the top regions in the VisMin (Visayas-Mindanao) island groupings, with bed utilization at moderate risk and ICU utilization at moderate risk,” the DOH said.

Meanwhile, the OCTA Research Group has designated Cebu City as a “high risk” area for Covid-19.

From January 19 to 25, the city’s seven-day average of new cases climbed to 722 from 325 the previous week.

It currently has a 69 percent average daily attack rate and a 40 percent seven-day positive rate.

The percentage of Covid-19 tests that were positive in a given area or region is known as the positivity rate.

The region’s reproduction number, or the number of people a Covid-19 sufferer may infect, is down to 2.99 from 4.64 last week.

At 68 percent, the city’s healthcare use rate is presently moderate.

The rate of intensive care unit utilization is also low, at 42%.
