PEZA investments have reached P4-T for the first time in 26 years.

For the past 26 years, investments in the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) have totaled PHP4.02 trillion, according to director-general Charito Plaza.

Plaza said these investments came from 4,670 locators in 415 economic zones across the country during the PEZA Investors Recognition Day 2021.

PEZA ecozones have increased in number since 1996 when there were 16 zones.

PEZA locators are export-oriented businesses that have contributed USD916.53 billion in exports over the last 26 years.

PEZA, according to Plaza, has resulted in the creation of over 1.73 million direct jobs and over 8.63 million indirect jobs.

“Bringing development to every Filipino family by creating sources of livelihood and income is also the very fabric of PEZA’s existence.” PEZA has been working on this for the past 26 years,” she continued.

PEZA’s goal, according to Plaza, is to create more ecozones across the country as well as new types of ecozones.

Plaza has worked to establish halal hubs and production zones, mineral processing economic zones, free trade zones in international airports and seaports, logistics parks, creative, culture, and arts tourism special economic zones, renewable energy eco-industrial park, retirement homes, and wellness and naturopathy villages, island capital cities of world special economic zones, knowledge innovation and science technology parks, and halal hubs and production zones since taking over as PEZA’s president.
