MCIA international tourists must have negative test results when they arrive.
Starting February 1, all arriving international travelers at Mactan-Cebu International Airport (MCIA) must produce negative findings of reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) tests taken within 48 hours before leaving the country of origin, in addition to certificates of vaccination.
The letter, which was released on Friday, will affect both Filipinos and foreigners.
Passengers who are unvaccinated, partially vaccinated, or whose vaccination cannot be confirmed must also have a negative RT-PCR test result, will be swabbed upon arrival, and will be held in quarantine until the second test, which will be done on the fifth day after arrival, is released.
“International travellers coming to Cebu are required to produce documentation of complete immunization from their country of origin at the time of check-in.” In the absence of said verification, the traveler will be classified as unvaccinated or partially unvaccinated, according to Governor Gwendolyn Garcia’s memorandum.
After only 22 cases last week, Central Visayas now has 46 Omicron variant cases as of Friday.
After the addition of 345 new cases, Cebu province now has 4,185 current Covid-19 infections out of 18,065 in the area.
Cebu has the highest active cases (7777) among highly urbanized cities.
On Friday, the region had a 43 percent positivity rate after 1,376 new cases were discovered out of 3,164 tests conducted in 15 molecular laboratories.
Despite the rise, hospitals maintained low occupancy rates, according to chief pathologist Dr. Mary Jean Loreche of the Department of Health Region 7, because most of the patients are asymptomatic or only mildly unwell.
Even if they are at home, she encouraged anyone with a cough, cold, or fever to isolate.
“Register for vaccines at your LGU (local government unit).” “Immunity is the only way to stop this pandemic from spreading,” she stated.
