In the NCR, six first vaccination sites for children aged 5 to 11 years old have been identified.

Undersecretary Jonathan Malaya of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) announced on Monday that the Covid-19 immunization of minors aged 5 to 11 years old in Metro Manila will commence on February 4 in six locations.

The Philippine Heart Center, Philippine Children’s Medical Center, National Children’s Hospital, Manila Zoo, SM North EDSA (Skydome), and Fil Oil Gym in San Juan will be the first to receive vaccinations for this age group, according to him.

Malaya further stated that vaccines for minors will be conducted in 30 areas in Central Luzon and Calabarzon, in addition to these locations in Metro Manila (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, and Quezon).

“The DOH (Department of Health) will make the formal announcement kung papaano po ang dahan-dahan na pagbubukas ng mga iba’t ibang vaccination sites hanggang matapos natin ang vaccination rollout sa buong bansa (The DOH will make the formal announcement kung papaano po ang dahan-dahan na pagbubukas ng mga “In a Laging Handa public briefing, he said.

He also encouraged parents of minors aged 5 to 11 who have comorbidities to bring their medical clearances and evidence of relationship to get their children immunized.

For face-to-face classes, this is essential.

Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles, who also serves as the acting presidential spokesperson, said the immunization rollout for children aged 5 to 11 will help them prepare for the return of restricted in-person sessions.

“Mahalaga po ito sa ating paghahanda sa muling pagbabalik ng face-to-face classes o pisikal na balik-eskwela,” Nograles remarked.

Pfizer Covid-19 vaccines acquired by the Philippine government for vaccination of children aged 5 to 11 are anticipated to arrive this week, according to Nograles.

“Because it’s reformed, it’s sadyang binili upang eksklusibong gamitin para sa pagbabakuna ng mga bata na nasa edad lima hanggang labing-isang taong gulang lamang (Because it’s reformulated, it’s sadyang binili upang eksklusibong gamitin

The vaccines are safe and effective, according to Nograles, who is also the spokesperson for the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID).

“Minor doses have been modified to make them more appropriate for them.” Ibig sabihin, ang dosage na ituturok sa kanila ay mas mababa. If ang mga ito is accessible in your area, dalhin nyo na po ang inyong mga anak sa immunization sites at sila’y pabakunahan (It means they would be given a reduced dose). Bring your children to the vaccination locations if these are offered in your area),” Nograles added.

As of January 29, he estimated that 7.5 million children aged 12 to 17 had been fully immunized.

In total, 126,470,538 doses have been provided across the country. According to the National COVID-19 Vaccination Dashboard, more than 60.3 million people have already received the first dosage, and more than 58.7 million have been fully vaccinated as of January 30.

Under Alert Level 2, the ‘No vax, no ride’ rule has been lifted.

Meanwhile, Malaya added that once Metro Manila is placed under Alert Level 2 on February 1, the “no vax, no ride” regulation will be lifted.

“The policy is only in effect while the Capital Region is on Alert (Level) 3 or above,” says the statement “Malaya went on to say.

From February 1 to 15, Metro Manila, as well as the provinces of Bulacan, Cavite, Rizal, Biliran, Southern Leyte, and Basilan, will be placed on Alert Level 2 along with the provinces of Bulacan, Cavite, Rizal, Biliran, Southern Leyte, and Basilan.

“Minors are allowed to go outside under this alert level, according to local government standards,” “Malaya remarked.

He did say, though, that checkpoints will be manned in regions under Alert Level 3 “as instructed by President Rodrigo Duterte.”

“Ang payo po ng DILG sa ating mga kababayan, dahil pa rin po natin iyong mga immunization card natin dahil baka hihingin po ito sa mga checkpoints),” “Malaya remarked.
