Bungie, a video game developer, has been purchased by Sony for $3.6 billion
Sony has agreed to pay $3.6 billion buying 100 percent of the shares of Bungie, a video game company based in the United States.
Sony will be able to use Bungie’s game services and expertise as a result of the acquisition.
“Bungie will remain independent, with the flexibility to self-publish and reach players wherever they choose to play,” Sony stated late Monday in a statement.
Bungie is the creator of video games such as Marathon, Myth, Halo, and Destiny, among others.
PlayStation is Sony’s well-known video game platform.
Technology corporations have upped their spending as the metaverse concept has gained traction.
In January, Microsoft, which also owns the Xbox video game console, paid roughly $69 billion for video game company Activision Blizzard.
