Pfizer vaccines will be delivered to pediatric immunization sites by February 5th, according to the Department of Health.
The Department of Health (DOH) announced Friday that the delayed jab delivery will begin on February 5, just in time for the distribution of vaccination for children aged five to eleven years old on February 7.
All specified immunization locations in Metro Manila, Region 3 (Central Luzon), and Region 4-A (Calabarzon) will be operational on that day, according to Health Undersecretary Myrna Cabotaje, and would subsequently spread to other regions by February 14.
After a third-party logistics partner failed to transport the 780,000 Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine doses on February 3, the pilot was delayed for February 4.
“It’s already on its way out of Brussels. It was in Hong Kong and will be delivered tonight. Mayroon na rin kaming mga allocation per area based on kung ano’yong instant na-submit nilang registration (We already have an allocation per area based on the registrations), “Cabotaje explained.
Another batch of 780,000 Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine shots for children aged five to eleven years old is expected to arrive on February 9, according to the official.
According to Cabotaje, the pilot has so far enrolled 160,000 youngsters aged five to eleven years old in Metro Manila.
The Philippine Heart Center, National Children’s Hospital, Philippine Children’s Medical Center, Fil Oil Gym in San Juan City, Manila Zoo, and SM North Edsa are among the first venues chosen in the region.
