More than 3,000 job openings will be available at the Cebu Trade Hall of SM City Cebu’s upcoming job and business fairs on Wednesday.

The event is part of the 88th-anniversary celebration of the Department of Labor and Employment.

On Tuesday, DOLE-7 director lawyer Marion Sevilla urged applicants to take advantage of this opportunity, which allows them to apply without having to leave their homes and without having to travel far because the event is blended.

The event, dubbed “Trabaho, Negosyo, Kabuhayan: A Blended Jobs and Business Fairs,” will offer a variety of job opportunities both locally and internationally.

Of the 3,146 jobs available, 1,545 are for local employment and 1,601 are for international employment.

Because the event is blended, applicants are still welcome to visit the physical venue for a limited face-to-face job fair, according to Sevilla.

She advised applicants to bring their vaccination cards with them because only those who were fully vaccinated could attend the limited face-to-face job fair.

“We want to follow the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases’ minimum public health standards and guidelines as closely as possible.” So I encourage everyone, especially those who will be physically joining us at the venue, to follow the rules and guidelines that have been established,” she said in a statement.

Applicants attending the job fair should bring their own ballpoint pens, sanitation kits, face masks, and cell phones, in addition to preparing for the usual pre-employment requirements.

To reduce crowding and avoid attracting traffic, DOLE-7 will employ QR (quick response) codes, which will allow users to immediately access information about the job fair, such as job openings.

“In this case, job seekers will no longer need to go to a shopping center just to look for job openings, as was the case before the pandemic. “This time, they can individually check what job vacancies are available and those that might interest them after scanning the QR Code with their respective cellular phones,” said Ma. Teresa Tanquiamco, officer-in-charge of the DOLE Technical Support Services Division-Employment Workers Welfare Division.

Customer service representatives, sewing operators, inbound travel sales representatives, and financial account specialists/officers are the top five jobs in demand in the area.

Factory workers, housekeeping/general cleaners, general nurses, waiters/waitresses, and company drivers are the top five job postings overseas.

All applicants must register online at bit.ly/signup-dole-jobfair-region7, whether they are joining virtually or in person.

“Interested applicants should go to the assigned job fair link and pre-register as soon as possible,” Tanquiamco said.

The e-jobs for local placement is being done in collaboration with Workbank, Inc.’s digital portal, an online job posting site that works with DOLE-7.

On the other hand, the overseas job fair is closely coordinated with the POEA, which maintains a separate online site, poea.gov.ph, where applicants are advised to register before attending the overseas job fair.
