Prepared for Labor Day jobs fair in Davao Kadiwa
On May 1, for the 121st Labor Day commemoration, the Department of Labor and Employment in the Davao Region (DOLE-11) will hold three significant events to celebrate Filipino workers in collaboration with other government organizations.
Juvy Pregon, the DA-11 Kadiwa focal person, stated in an interview on Thursday that the events include the Kadiwa ng Pangulo Para sa Manggagawa, the distribution of government benefits to workers, and the holding of job fairs.
To host the Kadiwa ng Pangulo, DA-11 will create Kadiwa corners. In conjunction with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), the Association of Labor Unions (ALU), the Department of Agriculture-Davao Region (DA-11), and the city’s Public Employment and Services Office (PESO), Pregon said.
In this metropolis, 100 DA, DTI, and DOLE recipients will have booths set up along Roxas Avenue and Rizal Park to display their goods.
Pregon continued, “We will showcase all agri-products made by our neighborhood farmers, which will be sold at farm gate pricing.
The focus of this year’s theme, “Pabahay, Bilihing Abot-Presyo, Benepisyo ng Matatag na Trabaho Para sa Manggagawang Pilipino,” is on the key initiatives and services provided by the organizations that support the Filipino labor force.
The distribution of PHP18 million in financial aid for more than 2,500 beneficiaries in the region under the DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program (DILP) and Tulong Panghanapbuhay Para sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) program is another significant action.
The annual job fair at SM City Davao, with 1,800 job openings given by 38 local firms as of April 24, is the festival’s centerpiece.
A large percentage of hired-on-the-spot (HOTS) jobseekers, including sales consultants, tellers, machine operators, and marketers, is what DOLE-11 stated in a statement on Thursday.
Randolf Pensoy, director of DOLE-11, urged job seekers to continue being active by looking up positions online and keeping up with industry changes.
Since the economy of the Davao Region is slowly recovering, he added, “We hope to generate a large number of hired jobseekers.”
