The Department of Social Welfare Development (DSWD) of the Ilocos Region recently received approximately 13,056 pairs of shoes and 627 hand sanitizers to be delivered to people with disabilities and victims of child and women abuse.

DSWD regional center coordinator Mary Grace Rendon said the SM Foundation’s corporate social responsibility initiative will benefit the vulnerable sectors in a phone conversation on Wednesday.

“This will be extremely beneficial to them, particularly the youngsters.” “There are resources received from benefactors at this time, even during the epidemic, and it’s great that they’ve selected DSWD, so thank you so much,” she said.

The SM Foundation’s Operation Tulong Express attempts to meet the needs of communities amid disasters and crises.

Program participants will come from DSWD centers and residential facilities in Dagupan City, Pangasinan; and Agoo and Bauang towns in La Union province, according to SM public relations manager Kristine Joy Santiago.

“The SM Foundation plans to distribute 200,000 pairs of shoes and sanitizers to places not touched by Typhoon Odette and 60,000 pairs to areas hit by Odette. “SM collaborated with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) as well as a few other agencies,” she explained.
