Duterte expresses gratitude to the UAE for its cooperation with Covid-19.
President Rodrigo Duterte has expressed gratitude to His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), for his country’s assistance in preventing the spread of Covid-19 in the Philippines, particularly in the Bangsamoro.
In a telephone discussion on Tuesday, Duterte expressed his gratitude to the Crown Prince, according to an official statement from the Office of the President (OP).
“The President thanked the Crown Prince for the UAE’s Covid-19 assistance, which included seven metric tons of medical supplies, personal protective equipment, and 100,000 doses of Hayat Vax vaccines, which helped boost vaccination in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM),” according to the statement.
The BARMM is the Philippines’ Muslim-majority autonomous zone.
“As we continue to face the difficulties of the epidemic, we look forward to cooperating closely with the UAE,” Duterte was reported as adding.
Duterte and the Crown Prince also reaffirmed their resolve to continue strengthening bilateral relations between the Philippines and the United Arab Emirates.
The President congratulated the UAE on its 50th anniversary of independence and expressed gratitude for the UAE’s care and concern for the over 600,000 Filipinos who live there.
Meanwhile, Duterte expressed regret for being unable to make his scheduled trip to the United Arab Emirates to personally ensure that domestic measures to combat Covid-19 remain effective in the face of new variations.
When the circumstances permit, he expressed his desire to travel to “a major country ruled by a ruler recognized for his calmness.”
His Highness Khalifa bin Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Abu Dhabi, received Duterte’s greetings.
Visit that has been scheduled
Even in his personal role, the Crown Prince stated he was looking forward to a visit by Duterte at the most suitable time.
He expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to speak with Duterte and expressed satisfaction with the development of UAE-Philippines “bilateral relations to a level both sides can be proud of.”
The Crown Prince assured Duterte that the UAE government will continue to provide the best possible service to Filipino people residing in the country.
He claims that the UAE benefits from Filipino workers’ skills and is grateful to have them.
Duterte also praised Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman on his country’s continued achievement in hosting the World Expo 2020 Dubai.
“Your successful holding of Expo 2020 Dubai, in which the Philippines is a key member, demonstrates that Covid-19 may be overcome.” “The United Arab Emirates is demonstrating to the rest of the world how it should be done,” Duterte stated.
Terrorism and violent extremism are two types of violent extremism.
In the meantime, the President and Crown Prince emphasized their support in the face of terrorism and violent extremism.
Duterte underlined the Philippines’ commitment to “international collaboration in combating terrorism via all measures consistent with international law.”
His Majesty Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, also known by his initials MbZ, is the son of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the UAE’s first President and “Father of the Nation,” and the brother of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the UAE’s current President.
He has four sons and five daughters with Her Highness Sheikha Salama bint Hamdan Al Nahyan.
