In 62 Eastern Visayas schools, face-to-face courses have resumed.

TACLOBAN CITY, Philippines – As of this week, at least 62 schools in Eastern Visayas were holding limited face-to-face courses, according to the Department of Education regional office here.

According to DepEd Eastern Visayas regional information officer Jasmin Calzita, 11 schools resumed in-person learning on November 15, nine campuses on December 6, another nine on February 7, and 33 on February 14.

“With the help of the community, local government units, government agencies, and other stakeholders, school openings on these campuses went off without a hitch.” In a statement to the media, Calzita stated, “The parents and students voiced their complete support for the expansion of the restricted face-to-face lessons.”

The regional education department has already identified 434 schools for the gradual development of restricted face-to-face classes.

According to the “Interim Guidelines on the Expansion of Limited Face-to-Face Classes,” which were released on February 1, expansion schools must meet the School Safety Assessment Tool’s standards, be located in areas with Alert Levels 1 and 2, obtain the approval of the local government unit and written consent from participants’ parents, and coordinate with respective barangays for implementation.

From February 16 to February 28, all cities and provinces in Eastern Visayas will be under Alert Level 2.

Only the provinces of Biliran and Southern Leyte are under Alert Level 2 from February 1 to 15. The rest are on Level 3 of the Alert System.
