Covid-19 vaccine for younger children is now available in Bulacan.

PANDI, Bulacan – The town of PANDI is located in the province of Bulacan. The municipality of Pandi, in partnership with the Department of Health (DOH) and the Department of Education, began the “Resbakuna Kids” vaccination rollout for children aged 5 to 11 on Monday to protect the local pediatric population (DepEd).

San Roque Elementary School, Mamerto C. Bernardo Memorial Central School, Masuso Elementary School, Mapulang Lupa Elementary School, Malibo Bata and Malibo Matanda Elementary Schools, Bunsuran Elementary School, and Sto. Nio Elementary School have all been designated as vaccination sites, according to Mayor Enrico Roque.

“Today, 1,512 children aged 5 to 11 will be immunized,” Roque said to the Philippine News Agency (PNA).

According to the mayor, the vaccination events for children are held in a cheerful setting, with balloons and life-size statues of superheroes to entertain the children, and each child receives ice cream after being vaccinated.

He urged parents to bring their children in for vaccinations, assuring them that the vaccine is safe for them.

The Pfizer vaccine is the only one that has been approved for emergency use by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for children in this age group, and it is given at a reduced dose and concentration.

Rosie Reyes, the mother of an 11-year-old vaccinee, said she consented to let her son be vaccinated so that he would be protected before starting face-to-face courses.

“Ang anak ko po talagang mabakunahan bilang paghahanda sa face-to-face lessons, gusto ko po talagang mabakunahan.” Po, as always, ang anak ko sa sakit ang gusto ko na protektado. Bilang magulang, ibang mga magulang na pabakunahan ang anak nila, sana piliin din po ng ibang mga magulang na pabakunahan ang anak nila. (I want my child to be vaccinated in preparation for face-to-face sessions.) Of course, I want to keep my son safe from the disease. As a parent, I hope that other parents allow their children to receive vaccinations as well. I hope people are not alarmed because vaccination is beneficial to everyone),” she stated.

Roque said on Tuesday that 2,000 children aged 5 to 11 will be vaccinated at Amana Waterpark, where they would be able to swim for free with their parents.

“Yung mga batang nabakunahan ngayong araw ay libre pang makakapag-swimming sa Amana kung kailan nila gusto (Those children who were vaccinated today are free to swim in the Amana whenever they wish),” remarked the mayor.

Pandi, which is divided into 22 barangays, has a total population of 12,000 children aged 5 to 11, with 80% of them being vaccinated.
