Sotto concentrates on collaborating with Lacson.

MANILA, Philippines โ€” Vice presidential candidate and Senate President Vicente “Tito” Sotto III downplayed a predicted victory in the May elections with presidential aspirant Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.

But Sotto insisted that he is focused on working with his presidential running mate, Sen. Panfilo “Ping” Lacson.

During the CNN Philippines Vice Presidential Debates, he declared, “Hindi ko iniisip yan (I am not thinking of that).” “In my sphere, we’re working on Sen. Ping Lacson’s presidency.”

If elected, Sotto and Lacson plan to use their combined 80 years of public service experience to address the country’s major problems, according to Sotto.

“Handa ako dito, I believe, after 30 years.” So ganoon ang aking thoughtโ€ฆwala akong iniisip na kung iba ang mananalo at this stage (I believe I am ready for the job after 30 years.) He said, “I can’t think of anyone else who would win).”

They will bring their years of public service experience, as well as the attributes of “katapatan, kakayahan, katapangan,” according to Sotto (loyalty, competence, courage).

“I believe we will lead by example with these,” he continued.

Lacson, who is running for president under the Partido Reporma banner, previously rebuffed reports of a possible alliance with Marcos’ running mate, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio, insisting that he will stick with Sotto all the way.

Meanwhile, Lacson stated on Sunday that if he and Sotto win the elections, their flagship Budget Reform Advocacy for Village Empowerment (BRAVE) initiative might help small business owners and street sellers.

He offered this guarantee after discovering that the Malabon local government unit (LGU) was able to provide financial and technical assistance to carinderia owners as part of its livelihood projects, which Lacson believes reflects the BRAVE program’s ethos.

“Isipin mo lang kung magka-partner ng national government at ng local government units natin sa buong bansa, hindi lang sa Malabon, na kung saan ‘yung hindi nga nagagamit na budget at ‘yung naaabusong budget i-download na lang natin (sa mga LGU)

Lacson recently highlighted the prospect of scaling up some of the positive social programs of local government officials under his and Sotto’s leadership through appropriate management of the national budget during his trips to different LGUs across the provinces of Laguna and Batangas.
