Amihan, a shear line, is expected to bring rain showers to regions of the Philippines.
The shear line and the northeast monsoon, or amihan, will continue to bring precipitation over areas of the Visayas and Mindanao, the weather service warned Monday.
Due to the shear line and the northeast monsoon, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) predicted cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and isolated thunderstorms for Caraga, Davao Region, Northern Mindanao, Central Visayas, Eastern Samar, Leyte, and Southern Leyte in its 4 a.m. weather bulletin.
PAGASA weather forecaster Grace Castaeda said, “At this time, we are not monitoring any weather disturbance that may harm the country.”
The shear line and northeast monsoon remain the country’s primary weather systems, according to Castaeda.
Over the rest of Mindanao, the shear line will bring isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.
During scattered moderate to heavy rainfall, Castaeda advised the public to be on the lookout for probable floods or landslides.
Due to the northeast monsoon, light rains will fall in the Bicol Region, Cagayan de Oro, Isabela, Aurora, and Quezon, while Metro Manila and the remainder of the country will have scattered light rainfall.
Over the whole archipelago, moderate to severe winds and moderate to rough seas are expected.
The northern and western seaboards of northern Luzon, the eastern seaboards of northern and central Luzon, the seaboards of Southern Luzon, the seaboards of the Visayas, and the northern, western, and eastern seaboards of Mindanao will all experience strong to gale-force winds.
PAGASA has cautioned fishing boats and other small seacrafts not to venture out into the water, while larger sea vessels have been warned about strong waves.
