On Saturday, the City Health Office (CHO) stated that it had begun providing booster shots to medical front-line workers and older residents in priority groups A1 and A2.

The booster rollout in the city for these priority groups who have completed the initial immunization series began this week, according to local health officer Dr. Dulce Amor Miravite, who did not provide numbers.

“Vaccine boosters will be given to the rest of the population later,” Miravite stated.

She went on to say that it will be based on the Department of Health’s guidelines (DOH).

The Department of Health previously said that a vaccination booster can be administered six months after receiving the second dose of the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) vaccine.

Individuals who completed their AstraZeneca, Moderna, Pfizer, Sinovac, or Sputnik jabs can receive a single-dose booster as soon as three months after the second dosage, and those who received the single-dose Janssen vaccine as soon as two months after the second dose.

As of December 27, 473,376 people, or 68.14 percent of the target eligible population of 694,696, had been fully vaccinated in the city.

According to the CHO statistics, 18,055 of the fully vaccinated persons fall into the A1 priority group, whereas 44,451 fall into the A2 priority group.

Meanwhile, 1st Infantry Division (ID) communications officer Capt. Mary Jephte Maebog stated Saturday that 201 people have received their Covid-19 vaccine booster at Camp Cesar-Sang-an Station Hospital (CCSSH), a military medical facility in Labangan, Zamboanga del Sur.

Officers, enlisted soldiers, civilian employees, and dependents of 1ID personnel were among those who received the immunization booster, according to Maebog.

Personnel from the CCSSH, led by Lt. Col. Jussel Parlan, gave the vaccine booster shots from December 27 to 30.
