BUTUAN CITY, PHILIPPINES – The Department of Trade and Industry in Caraga (DTI-13) has established a month-long trade exhibition at the Atrium in SM City here to commemorate International Women’s Month, showcasing the products of women entrepreneurs from across the region.

The DTI-13 stated in a statement released Wednesday (March 2) that five booths will be set up this year to showcase items from the provinces of Agusan del Norte, Agusan del Sur, Dinagat Island, Surigao del Norte, and Surigao del Sur.

The “Buy Caraga By Caraga: Women OTOPrenuer Trade Fair,” organized by the DTI-13, stated that the items are made by women-led micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) that have benefited from the trade agency’s One Town One Product Next Generation (OTOP Next Gen) initiative.

The trade show, which began on Tuesday in collaboration with SM City Butuan, will last through March 31.

DTI-13 Regional Director Gay Tidalgo said in a statement that the annual event, which began last year, aims to promote women’s ability to be economically empowered.

“This trade show will provide a place for women entrepreneurs to advertise their products and increase their market,” Tidalgo stated.

She went on to say that the agency expects to make roughly PHP300,000 in sales during the trade show this month.

Tidalgo also encouraged people to join the trade show, which would include handicrafts, wearables, beverages, fresh and processed foods, and other regional products.

Mike Ariel Plaza, the DTI-13 information officer, said in a separate interview on Wednesday that the Women OTOPreneur Trade Fair last year, which ran from March 17 to March 31, was able to achieve total sales of PHP305,738.

The DTI’s flagship initiative for MSMEs, OTOP Next Gen, aims to improve inclusive economic growth by assisting MSMEs with items, design, quality, manufacturing, and marketability.
