Families in Antique who have been affected by the typhoon receive goods to repair their homes.

Antique SAN JOSE DE BUENAVISTA – Antique’s provincial government began distributing shelter materials to residents whose homes were devastated by Typhoon Odette last December on Tuesday.

The goods were purchased with money from the province’s Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Fund’s PHP8 million rapid response fund (QRF) (LDRRMF).

The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) has identified 2,392 families who have homes that have been completely destroyed.

A family from Barangay Boroc-boroc in Belison was the first to benefit, receiving 30 galvanized iron (GI) sheets and 20 pieces of plywood.

Governor Rhodora J. Cadiao will lead the distribution of 2,924 GI sheets to 731 people in the municipality of Anini-y and 1,200 pieces of 300 beneficiaries in Tobias Fornier, according to PDRRM officer Broderick Train.

He explained, “Each family recipient will receive four GI sheets.”

They will also receive plywood sheets, which will be delivered by the provider.

Families with completely destroyed houses will be given roofing materials, while those with partially damaged houses will be given financial assistance ranging from PHP1,000 to PHP3,000, depending on the findings of the Antique Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) and its municipal counterpart.

“The PDRRMO Quick Response Fund has also been allocated an amount of PHP3 million for those families with partially damaged dwellings,” Train stated.

In a separate interview, PSWDO Social Worker Jason Alagos said they are currently preparing to release the cash help.

According to the PDRRMO study, 20,187 people’s homes were partially damaged.
