Domingo’s resignation as FDA Director-General has been confirmed by the Department of Health.

The Department of Health (DOH) announced on Monday that Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Director-General Eric Domingo will leave on January 3rd.

“Yes. “We confirm FDA Director-General Eric Domingo’s resignation,” the DOH said in a Viber message to reporters.

Dr. Oscar Gutierrez, the FDA’s Deputy Director-General, was named the person in charge by the Department of Health.

Domingo stated he is retiring in a text message to a news outlet because “he already played his bit during the pandemic.”

“The FDA is now more powerful, efficient, and well-organized.” He went on to say, “It’s time for me to move on to other things.”

Following the departure of then-FDA Director Nela Charade Puno in May 2019, Domingo took over as OIC.

Domingo was appointed director-general of the FDA by President Rodrigo Roa Duterte in February 2020.
