MANILA, Philippines — On Monday, the Department of Education (DepEd) launched E-Saliksik, the country’s official research portal, to improve access to high-quality research.

DepEd Secretary Leonor Briones said the research platform will contribute to quality data and assist address the absence of critical resources needed for policy formation in a Facebook live video.

“We cannot be making big decisions that influence not only our students, but the entire country in terms of politics, economy, and societal growth based solely on guessing, sentiments, or intuition,” Briones said.

She emphasized the need to not only conduct research but also translate it into courses and community service projects.

“Open access to DepEd’s enormous research collection through this platform that we’re now putting together is a huge benefit, and we’ll do everything we can to lower barriers to research availability in exchange for innovations that will ultimately better the lives of our students,” she added.

From classroom research to national research, E-Saliksik advocates the use of information-driven research.

E-Saliksik is managed by the Planning Service-Policy Research and Development Division in collaboration with the Department of Information and Communications Technology, according to DepEd Memorandum No. 11, Series of 2022.

It will serve as a central research database and will give evidence-based information.
