The bar test will be held on January 23 and 25.
Despite appeals to cancel it for the third year in a row due to the epidemic and the devastation wrought by Typhoon Odette in December, the Bar Examination will take place this month.
The Supreme Court (SC) stated on Tuesday that the Bar exam will be taken on January 23 and 25, with examinees taking four sets of exams, pro hac vice (for this occasion only).
The exam will be held in different locations for the first time.
Previous Bar exams lasted four Sundays, each with two courses, and were held at the University of Santo Tomas in recent years.
The Bar exam was scheduled to take place on January 16, 23, 30, and February 6 before the announcement.
“In light of the Covid-19 pandemic, fueled by its new dominant variant (Omicron), and the effects of Typhoon Odette,” the Supreme Court said in a statement, “the Supreme Court, upon the recommendation of the Bar Chairperson, has resolved to reduce the coverage and shorten the duration of the 2020/21 bar examination.”
Quarantine begins on January 9th, or at least two weeks before the Bar Examination.
Applicants chose their local testing center venue under the new multiple sites method.
Applicants from outlying areas were given preference.
In the most recent Bar exam, taken in 2019, 2,103 out of 7,685 candidates passed.
The latest high scorer was Mae Diane Azores of the University of Sto. Tomas – Legazpi (formerly Aquinas University), who received a 91.05 percent.
“Since the epidemic, the Philippines has produced no lawyers.” While the Bar Examination cannot be postponed, it might be conducted in a more humanitarian manner. The Court achieves that balance with these adjustments,” according to a statement from the Supreme Court.
