In a recruitment caravan, 1.8K people applied to join the Philippine Army.
MANILA, Philippines — On Tuesday, the Philippine Army (PA) said that almost 1,800 people attended a two-day recruitment caravan held at Army headquarters in Fort Bonifacio, Metro Manila, on March 12 and 13.
“During the weekend caravan, 1,212 aspiring enlisted troops and 500 aspiring officers signed up to take the pre-qualifying Armed Forces of the Philippines Service Aptitude Test (AFPSAT). Passers of the AFPSAT must still pass interviews, physical fitness tests, trade tests, and physical, medical, and neuropsychiatric evaluations to be considered for training “Col. Xerxes Trinidad, a spokesperson for the PA, issued a statement.
He went on to say that the two-day recruitment caravan, led by the Army Personnel Management Center, is part of a month-long celebration of the PA’s 125th anniversary, which falls on March 22.
The Army Artillery Regiment, the Aviation Regiment, the Armor Division, the Signal Regiment, the Civil-Military Operations Regiment, the 51st Engineer Brigade, the Special Forces Regiment (Airborne), the First Scout Ranger Regiment, Army Support Command, and the Army Artillery Regiment all joined the caravan and set up recruitment booths and static displays to inform Army aspirants about the various functions of soldiers in the organization, according to Trinidad.
“The Philippine Army Office of the Assistant Chief of Staff for Reservist and Retiree Affairs (OG9, PA) also set up a kiosk for ROTC cadets and prospective reserve force members,” he added.
Trinidad also revealed that 138 people applied for civilian human resource positions at the Philippine Army Office’s Civilian Personnel Management Branch, which is overseen by the Assistant Chief of Staff for Personnel (OG1, PA).
