Metro Manila remains on Level 1 of the Alert System.

MANILA, Philippines — Malacanang announced on Tuesday that Metro Manila, along with 47 other locations in various parts of the nation, will stay under Alert Level 1 until March 31.

Acting Presidential Spokesperson and Communications Secretary Martin Andanar said in a press statement that the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) authorized the new alert level classifications across the country.

“On Tuesday, March 15, 2022, the Inter-Agency Task Force placed the National Capital Region, along with 47 other places, on Alert Level 1 from March 16, 2022, to March 31, 2022,” Andanar added.

For the first half of March, only Metro Manila and 39 other places were placed on the most lenient Alert Level 1 status.

The provinces of Nueva Ecija, Zambales, and Batangas, as well as the cities of Lucena, Cebu, Ormoc, Tacloban, and Butuan, have been added to the list of locations where Alert Level 1 would be applied from March 16 to 31, according to Andanar.

In Luzon, the provinces of Abra, Apayao, Baguio City, Kalinga, Dagupan City, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan, Batanes, Cagayan, Santiago, Isabela, Quirino Angeles City, Aurora, Bataan, Bulacan, Olongapo City, Pampanga, Tarlac, Cavite, Laguna, Marinduque, Puerto Princesa City, Rom

Aklan, Bacolod City, Capiz, Guimaras, Iloilo City, Siquijor, and Biliran would stay under Alert Level 1 in the Visayas.

Alert Level 1 will be in effect till the end of March in Zamboanga City, Cagayan de Oro City, Camiguin, and Davao City.

The rest of the country, according to Andanar, will stay on Alert Level 2.

“From March 16, 2022 to March 31, 2022, the locations not on the above-mentioned list will be under Alert Level 2,” he stated.

Under Alert Level 1, people of all ages and comorbidities are free to go around, but they must avoid crowded and tight locations, as well as close contact (3Cs) situations.

Private businesses and government agencies are also permitted to operate at full capacity on-site, subject to minimal public health standards.

Wearing well-fitted face masks is still required by the IATF-EID, except when eating and drinking; participating in team and individual sports in venues where ventilation standards can be maintained; and participating in outdoor sports or exercise activities where physical distance can be maintained.

Before attending mass gatherings or entering indoor establishments such as churches, restaurants, fitness studios and gyms, indoor cinemas, meetings and exhibition venues, wedding receptions, birthday parties, hotels and other lodging establishments, and venues for election-related events, people aged 18 and up must present proof of full vaccination.

For persons above the age of 18, proof of full immunization is also necessary before entering restricted locations with limited ventilation, crowded venues with no physical separation, and close-contact settings with face-to-face interaction.
