DAGUPAN CITY, PHILIPPINES — The newly paved 1.96-kilometer concrete road in the barangays of Mangin and Tebeng has been finished to give vehicles a convenient alternative to the congested main highway.

Commuters will no longer have to endure gridlock on the main roadway between Calasiao and Mangaldan towns, according to a statement published by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) regional public information officer Esperanza Tinaza on Wednesday.

“This will also help to increase mobility, economic activity, and the efficiency with which commodities and fundamental services are delivered.” Travelers may now easily travel to Calasiao to buy their well-known puto items, Mangaldan for Tapa’s Best, and Dagupan City’s downtown area bypassing the Mangin-Tebeng Road,” she said.

The project, which cost PHP11 million and was conducted by the DPWH Pangasinan Second District Engineering Office, supervised by district engineer Edita Manuel, was funded by the General Appropriations Act of 2020.

Meanwhile, the renovated San Fernando Port Road in Barangay San Agustin–Barangay Poro, San Fernando City, would provide tourists and visitors to Poro Point Baywalk and Thunderbird Resort with a smooth travel experience.

According to Tinaza, the finished asphalt overlay on the 3.63-kilometer route created a smoother surface, ensuring that road users will have a comfortable journey.

Solar street lights were also erected to provide appropriate lighting for drivers and pedestrians at night, she noted.
