The PNP sees no necessity for a policemen’s loyalty check and dismisses the call from the RevGov.

MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police (PNP) declared on Thursday that there is no need for a loyalty check among police officers, rejecting calls for the country’s corruption problem to be solved by establishing a revolutionary government.

“I don’t believe a loyalty check is necessary because the chain of command is clearly established. That is what we shall do. We are aware of and appreciate our fellow Filipinos’ right to express themselves outside of the PNP. However, we respect the line of command and will adhere to it “Col. Jean Fajardo, a spokesperson for the Philippine National Police, said, reporters.

According to Fajardo, the police department follows the same chain of command as the military and other law enforcement services.

“We will always respect and follow the chain of command as members of the PNP. There are governing bodies in place. We will obey the lawful authorities, and the PNP will do the same “Fajardo explained.

The PNP’s parent body, the Department of Interior and Local Government, as well as the Department of National Defense, have both rejected former military officer Antonio Parlade Jr.’s proposals for a revolutionary government.

Delfin Lorenzana, the Defense Secretary, previously stated that they appreciate the right to freedom of expression, but that their complaint should have gone through the correct procedures.

“We at the Department of Defense criticize (retired) Lt. Gen. (Antonio) Parlade’s attempt to use the Department, particularly the AFP (Armed Forces of the Philippines), to voice his personal complaints and push for a revolutionary government,” Lorenzana said in a statement to media.

All Filipinos have the right to freedom of expression as citizens of a democratic country, he said, but it must be exercised through proper grievance systems.

“The DND will continue to respect the mandates of our democratic institutions while adhering to constitutional authority. We will continue to execute our solemn responsibility to the country “Lorenzana remarked.

He stated that all AFP officers have been ordered to remain apolitical and neutral.

Parlade’s move was also condemned by DILG Secretary Eduardo Ao, who called it “reckless and careless.”

On Tuesday, Parlade and an estimated 100 supporters held a debate at Quezon City’s People Power Monument to denounce alleged corruption at the Commission on Elections (Comelec).

Parlade is a former chief of the Southern Luzon Command and one of the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict’s spokespersons (NTF-ELCAC).

He took over for Katipunan ng Demokratikong Pilipino (KDP) presidential aspirant and former education undersecretary Antonio Valdez on November 13, 2021.

Independent aspirants, on the other hand, are not permitted to be substituted under Comelec guidelines.

In the presidential election of 2022, his name was eventually eliminated from the final list of candidates.
