MANILA, Philippines — According to a health official, the country’s positivity rate, or the number of people who tested positive for Covid-19, has dropped to 2.1 percent this week from 2.7 percent previous week.

Only 3,145 people tested positive for Covid-19 this week, according to Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire.

“Ang positivity rate ng Cordillera Administrative Region [CAR] mula sa 1.6 percent ito ay tumaas ng bahagya sa 1.7 percent (CAR’s positivity rate increased slightly from 1.6 percent to 1.7 percent),” Vergeire remarked during an online media conference.

According to the most recent testing data, 21,725 samples were tested, which is 0.5 percent less than the previous week’s samples.

Meanwhile, this week’s average Covid-19 daily instances are 21% lower than last week’s.

Currently, the country is logging an average of 385 cases per day, down 100 infections from the previous high of December 2021, before the Omicron form spread over the country.

The continuous decline in the number of Covid-19 instances, according to Vergeire, can be ascribed to people following health routines, including immunization.

As of March 28, around 73.02 percent of the target population had completed their primary series, while 78.82 percent had gotten their first dose of Covid-19 vaccination.

Only 5.82 percent of youngsters have finished their primary series, whereas 77.87 percent of the targeted adolescent population is fully vaccinated.

Around 75.63 percent of the senior population is fully vaccinated, whereas 93.1 percent of people with comorbidities have received both Covid-19 vaccine doses.
