For the Taal reaction, 600 PNP and BFP emergency vehicles have been dispatched.
MANILA โ Secretary of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Eduardo Ao said the Philippine National Police (PNP) and the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) have sent over 600 emergency vehicles to help with relief efforts in the wake of the eruption of the Taal Volcano.
In an interview with President Rodrigo Duterte on Tuesday night’s Talk to the People, Ao revealed that 527 fire engines, 22 rescue vehicles, 23 ambulances, and seven watercraft are on standby, as well as emergency medical service employees and search-and-rescue retrieval teams.
“Aside from the reactionary standby support force of roughly 553 individuals, the PNP also deployed its own search-and-rescue recovery teams consisting of 2,716 personnel,” he added.
Since the eruption of the volcano on March 26, members of the Police Regional 4A (CalabarzonRegional )’s Reactionary Standby Support Force (RSSF) have been on standby to help with rescue and relief efforts, particularly in the Batangas municipalities of Agoncillo, Laurel, Balete, Talisay, and Cuenca.
In addition, police officers have been stationed in evacuation centers to maintain order and ensure that health protocols are followed.
Meanwhile, Ao expressed optimism that the volcano’s unrest will subside in the next few days, allowing the current Alert Level 3 to be reduced.
Aid to ‘Odette’ has been suspended owing to polls.
In the same press conference, the DILG chairman noted that the disbursement of “ayuda,” or monetary relief, to Typhoon Odette victims had been halted owing to the election season, as per Commission on Elections Resolution No. 10747.
The resolution establishes the norms and regulations governing the ban of public monies being spent in connection with the May 9 elections.
“According to our records, we have distributed PHP4.3 billion of the PHP4.8 billion in funding for ‘Odette’ aid, a disbursement rate of 89.10 percent. A total of 4,156,592 people have benefited from these monies “Ao informed Duterte.
