Pangasinan’s LINGAYEN. Approximately 94 farmer-agrarian reform beneficiaries (ARBs) in Pangasinan obtained their computerized land titles through Project SPLIT, or the Department of Agrarian Reform’s Support to Parcelization of Lands for Individual Titling (DAR).

Virginia Orogo, DAR Undersecretary for Foreign-Assisted and Special Projects Office, spoke at the distribution on Friday and urged the recipients to “take care of the lands given to you,” assuring that the distribution of individual land titles to ARBs or landless agricultural workers would continue.

In his remarks, Pangasinan Governor Amado Espino III advised the beneficiaries not to sell or utilize the lands as collateral, but instead to cultivate them even more.

Espino expressed gratitude to the DAR and the World Bank, which provided funding for the project.

The goal of Project SPLIT is to break down communal certificates of land ownership awards (CLOAs) into individual land titles.

All agrarian reform beneficiaries whose names appear annotated in group CLOAs and who seek to have their collective land title can use Project SPLIT’s services for free.

The initiative has a PHP24.6 billion budget.

As of March 31, field validation teams in Pangasinan had successfully validated 9,093.3 hectares (1136 landholdings), benefiting 5,935 farmers (3,472 men and 2,463 women).
