PRRD expresses dissatisfaction with fake news and advises the public to trust government sources.

MANILA, Philippines โ€” President Rodrigo Roa Duterte griped on Monday night that false news spreads so quickly that some people believe it. He advised the public to heed recommendations from reputable government officials and organizations.

“With the introduction of new devices in the hands of the average individual, he can now participate in the social order by disseminating news or whatever information is required for someone or everyone to know. Itong (The problem is) fake news, ang problema kasi. It has the potential to spread quickly. “The thing is, there are those who believe it,” he stated in a prepared Talk to the People.

Duterte stated that controlling the dissemination of fake news is tough, stressing that this applies to both the public and private sectors.

He pointed out that government foes such as the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) have been among those spreading “lies.”

Duterte stated that the public should rely on trusted government individuals and agencies to avoid falling prey to fake news.

Officials permitted to talk on Covid-19 issues include Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire and acting presidential spokesperson and Communications Secretary Martin Andanar, according to him.

“If it’s about governance and ang trabaho namin, maghintay lang kayo,” she says. (If you want to know the truth about government and our work, just wait.) Kagaya sa a highly active communicator si Undersecretary Vergeire (If you want to know the truth about governance and our work, just wait.) Since the outbreak, Undersecretary Vergeire has made an appearance virtually every day. It’s been around two years and a half. He added, “Nandito si Secretary Andanar (Secretary Andanar is also present).”

Duterte also stated that he would deliver regular public addresses to keep the people informed about the government’s policies and actions.

He was irritated by rumors that the country had an oversupply of Covid-19 vaccines, insisting that the government had bought the correct quantity of doses for the immunization target population.

“Huwag kayo maniwala niyan kasi yung inorder natin para sa lahat,” says the narrator. Don’t believe it because the immunizations we bought are for everyone. They’re sufficient for the majority of Filipinos),” he remarked.

Duterte suggested providing Covid-19 vaccines to other countries or doing house-to-house immunizations to avoid vaccine waste in a public address on April 5.

He made the remark in response to concerns over the expiration of 27 million Covid-19 vaccinations in July.

The country’s current projected vaccine loss rate is 1.54%, which is lower than the World Health Organization’s suggested wastage rate of 10%. (WHO).

More than 66.6 million Filipinos had been fully vaccinated against Covid-19 as of Monday, with more than 12 million receiving booster doses.
