A new chief of the AFP’s headquarters service command has been appointed.
MANILA, Philippines — The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) named Brig. Gen. Ferdinand S. Razalan as the new commander of the General Headquarters and Headquarters Service Command (GHQ&HSC) on Tuesday.
Razalan formally replaced Brig. Gen. George Joel N. Lalaquil on April 11, according to AFP Public Affairs Office Chief Col. Jorry Baclor.
In Fort Bonifacio, Taguig, Lalanquil will lead the Philippine Army’s Installation Management Command.
Vice Admiral Rommel Anthony SD Reyes, acting AFP Vice Chief-of-Staff, presided over the change-of-command ceremony held at the Tejeros Hall, AFP Commissioned Officers Club in Camp Aguinaldo, he added.
Razalan gained substantial expertise and experience from 11 years of service in the Nueva Ecija-based 7th Infantry Division prior to his appointment as GHQ&HSC chief.
On two occasions, he was named the best company commander and battalion intelligence officer.
In 2003, Razalan was transferred to Northern Luzon Command, where he led the capture of an NPA regional secretary in Baguio City and the surrender of a New People’s Army (NPA) guerrilla unit leader in Tarlac.
“I am confidence in Brig. Gen. Razalan’s ability to contribute more accomplishments to the GHQ&HSC than he did in his previous positions. “I ask this Command’s officers, enlisted soldiers, and civilian human resources to remain committed to supporting your Commander and not lose sight of your goal and vision,” Reyes added.
Lalaquil, on the other hand, was honored for his achievements in managing the command during the AFP’s efforts to contain the effects of the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) epidemic.
“Brig. Gen. Lalaquil led his men and women in conscientiously guaranteeing uninterrupted operations within Camp Aguinaldo, and establishing an environment favorable to the AFP’s mission completion while keeping his personnel’s health and safety in mind,” Reyes stated.
