MANILA, Philippines — The weather agency stated Wednesday that the low-pressure area (LPA) formerly known as Tropical Depression Agaton will continue to dampen most sections of the country.

Aldczar Aurelio of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) stated the LPA is slowly moving away from the Philippine mainland and going toward Typhoon Malakas (international name).

The last known location of “Malakas” was 1,545 kilometers east of central Luzon, beyond the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).

“Last night, ‘Agaton’ was reduced to an LPA. It will, however, bring significant rains to the Visayas, Bicol, and parts of Mindanao “Aurelio remarked. “‘Malakas’ keeps getting further away from PAR.”

The LPA will bring sporadic to widespread rainfall and thunderstorms to Eastern Visayas, Masbate, and Sorsogon on Wednesday.

Over the rest of the Visayas, Northern Mindanao, Caraga, the rest of Bicol, Marinduque, Romblon, and Quezon, the LPA will bring scattered rain showers and thunderstorms.

Fairweather will prevail in Metro Manila and the remainder of Luzon, with isolated rain showers triggered by localized thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, the eastern seaboards of Luzon, the Visayas, Mindanao, and extreme northern Luzon are expected to see moderate to high winds and moderate to rough seas.

Winds will be light to moderate elsewhere, with modest to moderate seas.
