The NTF-ELCAC alerts the public about politicians with ties to the Reds.
MANILA, Philippines — The National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC) has issued a warning to the public against politicians having strong ties to the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army-National Democratic Front (CPP-NPA-NDF).
Lorraine Badoy, the spokesman for Sectoral Concerns for the NTF-ELCAC and Presidential Communications Undersecretary, stated the government’s anti-insurgency task force will continue to identify communist terrorist groups’ legal front organizations.
“[B]akit kami titigil at hindi kami bakit?” If iyong susunod na pangulo ay kaibigan ng CPP-NPA-NDF- Because it would be a disaster if the next president was a CPP-NPA-NDF buddy),” Badoy stated at a press conference on Wednesday.
According to Badoy, the country will “only return to what it was before the founding of NTF-ELCAC,” which included NPA massacres of innocent people, huge recruitment of kids for armed revolution, and widespread extortion in the countryside.
Badoy said in a statement on Thursday that the NTF-ELCAC is unconcerned about the criminal accusations and lawsuits brought against its officials.
“We don’t feel threatened in the least.” In fact, the dread and worry we perceive behind the CPP-NPA-complaints NDF against us and the NTF ELCAC in the face of their inevitable demise amuse us,” she added.
Badoy is one of the NTF-ELCAC officers who is being investigated by the Office of the Ombudsman for “red-tagging” concerns.
“The CPP-NPA-NDF takes on the entire NTF ELCAC when they take on me.” When they take on the NTF ELCAC, they are taking on the entire government of the Philippines, led by President Rodrigo Roa Duterte, who is departing the administration with unprecedented levels of trust and approval. “A President who has been the most trusted public servant in government since he took office,” she remarked.
On March 25, members of the Makabayan Bloc filed complaints against NTF-ELCAC officials for alleged electioneering and other violations of the Omnibus Election Code, including Kabataan party-list Rep. Sarah Jane Elago, Gabriela party-list Rep. Arlene Brosas, and ACT Teachers party-list Reps. France Castro, Robert De Castro, Teodoro Casio, Saturnino Ocampo, and Ariel Casilao.
Badoy claimed that the complaints filed against her and other NTF-ELCAC officials were merely intended to “harass and silence” them for speaking out against the CPP-NPA-deceitful NDF’s methods through their legal fronts.
“We understand that our loyalty is to our compatriots, and we will be relentless in unmasking members and fronts of the CPP-NPA-NDF since it is precise via those masks that they have been able to harm our people and our country,” she continued.
Several NTF-ELCAC officials signed and filed a counter-affidavit on Wednesday in response to the Makabayan Bloc’s concerns, which include charges of purported red-tagging presidential hopeful Vice President Leni Robredo.
“No one is red-tagging,” according to the NTF-ELCAC.
“We are unfazed by all these nonsense lawsuits and complaints that are meant to harass and have no substance— their favorite being red-tagging, which our Supreme Court has ruled as nonexistent and that there is no danger to life, liberty, or security when you are identified as a member of the CPP-NPA-NDF (Zarate vs. Aquino),” Badoy added.
Meanwhile, Badoy encouraged Robredo to criticize the CPP-NPA-atrocities NDF’s and brutality “if it is true that her camp is not collaborating with communist forces.”
“All you have to do, Madame Vice President, is condemn the CPP-NPA-NDF. “We’ve been pleading with you to do it for about a month,” she explained.
“Madame Vice President, you’re from Bicol, right? You’re familiar with Masbate?” Do you know who Keith Absalon is? He was shot as if he were a dog. With his arms raised in the air, he begged for his life, but he was shot between the eyes. ‘Di ba (right)? You can’t say that. That is something you owe to the Filipino people. That is your oath of office, that is your fidelity. That oath of office was taken by all of us. “Do it, Madame Vice President,” she said, “and panalo tayo (we win).”
The United States, the European Union, the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, and the Philippines have all designated the CPP-NPA as a terrorist organization.
The NDF was officially legally labeled as a terrorist group by the Anti-Terrorism Council on June 23, 2021, identifying it as “an integral and inseparable member” of the CPP-NPA, which was established in April 1973.
