Effectiveness of LGUs’ house-to-house vaccination campaign: DILG
MANILA, Philippines — As the government continues to ramp up its house-to-house vaccination program, the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) praised local government units (LGUs) for rolling out coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) vaccines in their respective areas.
The first, second, and booster doses against Covid-19 were administered to a total of 1,481,683 people, according to DILG Secretary Eduardo M. Ano, as LGUs encouraged their constituents to get vaccinated and to enhance public vaccine confidence.
Ano praised Region 7 for immunizing 407,019 people, with LGUs under pressure to ramp up the house-to-house vaccination program to avoid another Covid-19 outbreak.
Regions 11 and 6 were able to inoculate 230,940 and 125,429 people, respectively, according to him.
“Ito ay patunay na epektibo at malaking tulong sa ating kababayan na nakatira sa liblib na lugar na maka-avail ng ating bakuna,” says the narrator. Atin pong ipagpapatuloy ang house-to-house [vaccination program] para lalo pang maabot ang mga lugar na hindi pa nababakunahan We will continue our house-to-house immunization effort to reach out to more unvaccinated people),” Ano stated during President Rodrigo R. Duterte’s Tuesday morning Talk to the People.
“Ang atin depensa sa Covid surge ay ang tuloy-tuloy na pagbabakuna kasama ang pagbobooster at ang pagsunod sa minimal public health standard or norms,” stated the DILG chief.
During the same briefing, Ano mentioned that the number of violators has decreased significantly as a result of the Philippine National Police (PNP) and other authorities strictly enforcing the minimum public health standard (MPHS) regulations.
According to Ano, individuals who did not use a face mask decreased from 84,969 to 30,154, while mass gathering offenses decreased from 724 to 220, and physical distancing violators decreased from 9,057 to 2,168.
As the May 9 poll approaches, Ano said he has instructed each LGU to set up a medical health desk in each polling precinct that will focus on isolation polling places and make sure the barangay health emergency response teams (BHERTs) are operational to ensure peace and order and avoid a surge in Covid-19 cases.
“Dapat ay naka-standby ang mga BHERTs sakaling kailanganin ng Comelec ng dagdag na manpower kapag hindi pa tapos, habang hindi pa tapos ang botohan,” she said. Kailangan kung makipag-ugnayan ang mga LGUs sa mga hospitals na malapit sa voting precincts para sa mabilis na koordinasyon sakaling kailanganin ang kanilang serbisyo para tugunan ang anumang medical emergency at Covid-related admissions (The BHERTs should be on standby in LGUs should also call hospitals near polling precincts for prompt coordination in case their services are required to treat any medical issues or Covid-related admissions),” stated the DILG chairman.
