As NorMin finds a path to recovery, job possibilities abound.
As part of its economic recovery from the Covid-19 outbreak, the Department of Labor and Employment Region Northern Mindanao (DOLE-10) created 3,600 job opportunities in Northern Mindanao.
DOLE-10 Director Albert Gutib said 122 local employers attended a job and business expo on April 28 as part of the Cabinet Officer for Regional Development and Security for Northern Mindanao (CORDS X) conference on Saturday, indicating that the region is progressively recovering from the epidemic.
Sixty-one applications were hired on the spot, while 581 were considered close candidates.
“The near-hires are qualified,” Gutib added, “but they must submit more qualifications or complete a final interview.”
The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) has offered livelihood assistance to 3,307 people through the Integrated Livelihood and Emergency Employment Program as of Saturday.
Under the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers program, the organization also provided emergency employment to displaced workers, particularly those hit by Typhoon Odette in December.
DOLE-10, according to Gutib, has been holding public hearings on the minimum wage petition for increase through the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board.
