More Cabinet appointees have been announced by Marcos.

MANILA – A day after being sworn in as the 17th President of the Philippines, President-elect Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. unveiled more members of his new Cabinet on Thursday.

Marcos selected former University of the Philippines (UP) president Alfred Pascual as the next secretary of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) under his government during a press conference.

He said, “I asked Fred Pascual to lead the DTI, and he agreed.”

Pascual is the current president of the Philippine Management Association.

Governor Benjamin Diokno of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas will be the secretary of the Department of Finance, according to Marcos.

“It is proper to state that I will be recommending our BSP President Ben Diokno for the job of Secretary of Finance,” Marcos remarked.

Diokno said in a statement that as Finance Secretary, he will work to “continue prudently and carefully balancing the demand” for economic growth while maintaining fiscal discipline.

“It is a privilege to serve the Filipino people in any position, current or future.” “I am grateful and humbled by the President-faith elect’s in me to assist his government in managing the country’s finances,” Diokno said.

Marcos stated that Felipe Medalla, a member of the BSP Monetary Board, will succeed Diokno as the central bank’s president.

At the same news conference, Marcos stated that he intends to promote Manuel “Manny” Bonoan, president and CEO of SMC Tollways, to the position of Secretary of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

“For the Department of Public Works and Highways, I propose to nominate Manny Bonoan.” He’s spent practically his entire professional career with the DPWH, and I know he’ll do a great job,” he said.

Bonoan, an engineer, formerly served as an undersecretary of the Department of Public Works and Highways under the Estrada and Arroyo governments.

Marcos appointed former Davao del Norte Rep. Anton Lagdameo Jr. to the office of Special Assistant to the President (SAP).

Because they worked together for the past ten years, Marcos said it would be an “easy position” for the former congressman.

“Cong Anton Lagdameo has been asked to fill that role.” “It’s incredibly delicate and significant because we’ve known each other since he was a child,” he explained. “He has a good understanding of who I am. For the past ten years, he’s been with us, working with me.”

Marcos had previously named Vic Rodriguez, his long-time chief of staff and spokesperson, as Executive Secretary, Cavite Rep. Jesus Crispin Remulla as Justice Secretary, Arsenio Balisacan as Chairman of the National Economic and Development Authority, Bievenido Laguesma as Labor Secretary, Susan Ople as Secretary of the Department of Migrant Workers, Rose Beatrix ‘Trixie’ Cruz-Angeles as Press Secretary, and Vice President-elect Sara Duterte
