Medical insurance for students is no longer available.

Meanwhile, Ablan stated that the IATF-EID endorsed the Commission on Higher Education’s (CHED) suggestion to repeal student medical insurance.

According to the joint memorandum circular of the CHED and the Department of Health, students who are taking limited face-to-face (F2F) classes must be registered with the Philippine Health Insurance Corp. (PhilHealth), either as a direct or indirect contributor, prior to the IATF-recent EID’s decision (DOH).

Higher education institutions (HEIs) are required to guarantee that students are either PhilHealth members or have similar medical insurance that covers medical expenses linked to the coronavirus sickness 2019 per the Joint Memorandum Circular 2021-004 of the CHED and DOH (Covid-19).

In the event that a student becomes infected with Covid-19 as a result of his or her participation in the limited F2F classes, the circular mandates HEIs to support the appropriate medical treatment or procedures for afflicted students.
