MANILA – Communications Secretary Martin Andanar has directed his office’s transition team to guarantee a smooth handover of authority to new press secretary Rose Beatrix “Trixie” Cruz-Angeles, according to Malacanang.

Acting Deputy Presidential Spokesperson and Communications Undersecretary Michel Kristian Ablan said he and other members of the PCOO transition team will meet with Cruz-Angeles in the coming days to negotiate a smooth handover of power.

“Secretary Martin has activated the transition team in regards to PCOO. That includes myself. We’ve also put out a call to incoming PCOO Secretary Trixie Cruz-Angeles. We hope to meet with them soon so that the transition between departing Secretary Andanar and new Secretary Cruz-Angeles goes smoothly “In a virtual press conference, he remarked.

Cruz-Angeles would “oversee the operations of the PCOO, which involves the conduct of regular press briefings to media practitioners covering Malacanang activities,” according to President-elect Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.’s press secretary.

Andanar expressed hope in March that his successor would carry on the reforms he started to improve the government’s communication and information services.

Andanar, according to Ablan, has directed the transition team to ensure a smooth transition of power to the incoming PCOO chief.

“Secretary Andanar has directed me to deliver a thorough and complete handover to the new Secretary, similar to what we had six years ago. As a result, we will give them all of the information and help they require. Because I’ll be staying, I’ll be in charge of the transition “he stated

Ablan also stated that the PCOO and its affiliated agencies will be ready for Marcos’ inauguration on June 30.

The Presidential Security Group (PSG), on the other hand, will decide whether or not protocols will be modified to enable media coverage on Malacaan grounds.
