Belmonte will increase infrastructure development and social services in QC
Mayor Joy Belmonte of Quezon City has reassured her residents that the city’s social services program will be expanded further to ensure aid for everyone who needs it.
Following her swearing-in as the newly reelected city mayor on Wednesday, Belmonte gave a statement detailing her objectives for the city over the next three years.
“We gradually raise the funding set aside for social services each year. A budget of PHP9.8 billion has been set for you for 2019. We began with a PHP9.8 billion budget in 2019, and as of 2022, we have practically doubled the budget for projects that will directly address the needs of our citizens, the official said.
The PHP16.1 billion social services budget that the city plans to keep growing over the next three years, according to the spokeswoman, “promises to be an inclusive social safety net for all marginalized and vulnerable sectors.”
The “Alagang QC” program, the Social Amelioration Program for QC Residents (SAP QC), and the “Kalingang QC” program, which began at the height of the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19), are just a few of the initiatives that will receive funding under this budget.
According to Belmonte, the city is now acquiring 36 hectares of real estate to distribute to qualified citizens, building more housing projects, renovating and upgrading more health centers, and providing free access to vital medications through health centers and LGU pharmacies.
The hospital in District 6 is “malapit na tayong magkaroon ng ospital.” Due to the implementation of a single patient record system at our public hospitals and health facilities, there may be systems in place to support the needs of patients. In the near future, District 6 will have a hospital, thanks to information technology. In addition, our public hospitals and health facilities now use a system known as the “single patients record system.” We will be able to focus on each patient individually with the aid of information technology, she said.
Belmonte also promised to take on more infrastructure projects, restore more parks, increase the number of green pedestrian pathways, and increase the network of bike lanes from 93 to 174 kilometers by 2025.
She stated that the Ninoy Aquino Parks and Wildlife and the Quezon Memorial Circle will be connected by an elevated green promenade for easy access to both parks, and the Quezon Memorial Circle will undergo major restoration to restore more green spaces.
She declared that significant infrastructure initiatives would be made in the transportation sector.
Belmonte proudly announced that the city has once again gotten an unqualified opinion from the Commission on Audit for 2021, making it two years in a row (COA).
Our administration has been open and free of corruption, she added, adding, “Ibig sabihin, naging malinis at walang bahid ng katiwalian ang ating pamamahala.”
After receiving 662,611 votes overall, Belmonte defeated her opponent, former congressman Mike Defensor, who received 419,064 votes, to win reelection for a second term.
