150 farmers from the Municipality of Sibalom will be divided into six groups to get training in the production of high-quality inbred rice seeds as well as farm mechanization for greater output and decreased labor costs.

Uswag Durog Rivergems Farm, a Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) licensed training facility, began the first batch’s Training Induction Program (TIP) on Friday.

Farm president Rhea Dacallo stated in an interview that there were six batches of 25 farmers each that had received program orientation.

The farmers, who came from the barangays of Catungan 3, Insarayan, Pis-anan, Tula-tula, Calooy, Bulalacao, Valentin Grasparil, Lambayagan, and Luyang, will receive instruction from 35 trainers once a week for 17 days.

The walk-behind transplanter and the four-wheeled tractor can be operated by the farmers.

They will receive an orientation from the National Food Authority regarding its services and equipment that is accessible in this capital city.

They will also receive instruction in entrepreneurship.

Farmers will get a weekly allowance of PHP160 each, a one-time load of PHP500, and an additional PHP500 for personal protective equipment while undergoing training (PPE).
