‘Henry’ batters the Babuyan Islands and Batanes.
Typhoon Henry (Hinnamnor), which is still slowing down over the Philippine Sea on Friday, is still battering Batanes and Babuyan Islands with torrential rain and strong gusts.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) stated in its 5 a.m. report that “Henry” would strengthen the southwest monsoon and might bring rains to the western part of Luzon starting on Saturday.
Near the center, “Henry” has maximum sustained winds of 175 kph and gusts as high as 215 kph.
It is almost stationary and was last monitored 395 kilometers to the east northeast of Basco, Batanes.
Over the Batanes, Babuyan Islands, Ilocos Norte, and Abra, moderate to heavy rain is expected.
Over Cagayan, the rest of the Ilocos Region, and the Cordillera Administrative Region, light to moderate rain is also expected, with occasionally heavy rain.
In places that are particularly vulnerable to these hazards, flooding and rain-induced landslides could occur in isolated or scattered areas.
Over Batanes, the Babuyan Islands, and the northern part of mainland Cagayan, Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1 has been raised (Santa Ana).
In some places, there will be strong breezes up to nearly gale-force winds.
The northern and eastern seaboards of Northern Luzon will continue to experience strong to gale-force winds and rough to very turbulent seas (Batanes, Cagayan Including Babuyan Islands, Isabela, and the northern coast of Ilocos Norte).
Over Central Luzon, moderate to severe winds and moderate to rough waves are also predicted.
While huge sea vessels are warned against strong waves, fishing boats and other small sea vessels are urged not to venture out into the sea.
The rest of the nation will receive sporadic rain showers brought on by nearby thunderstorms.
The rest of the archipelago will have light to moderate winds and mild to moderate seas, according to PAGASA.
