A government-run center for citizen complaints has praised the Commission on Elections (Comelec) for its prompt response to concerns.

The director of the 8888 Citizens’ Complaint Center, Bernadette Casinabe, thanked the commission for its prompt reaction and noted that it has a 100% success rate in resolving the complaints it received in a delivered letter to the Comelec chairman’s office on Tuesday.

“We are happy to inform you that, as of August 31, 2022, 661 tickets—or 100%—all the residents’ issues directed to your office had been addressed. We want to thank you for working so hard to ensure that your office responds promptly to every citizen’s concern, Casinabe added.

A mechanism for citizens to report complaints and grievances regarding acts of red tape, as defined by Republic Act (RA) 9485, as amended by RA 11032, and/or corruption of any national government agency, government-owned or -controlled corporation, government financial institution, and other government instrumentalities has been established. This mechanism is known as the 8888 Citizens’ Complaint Center.

The President’s Office oversees the center.

According to Casinabe, they anticipate continuing their collaboration with the Comelec in the fight against bureaucracy and corruption.
