From September 19 to 23, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) beneficiaries could register for the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys ID) at the agency’s Central Office in Quezon City.

104 DSWD clients who received assistance from the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis (AICS) program were accommodated and helped with the registration and processing of their national ID application during the five-day co-location cooperation.

The DSWD claimed that the PhilSys ID would be advantageous to both the DSWD and its clients since its features allow quicker eligibility checks and digital payments, giving beneficiaries better access points to social assistance.

The co-location relationship was started by DSWD Secretary Erwin Tulfo, who offered the agency’s facilities for the on-site registration to make the agency’s services more available to its target sectors over time.

This activity was in line with the PSA’s recommendation to the DSWD that, in conjunction with the previously signed Memorandum of Agreement for the Pilot Use Case between the two agencies in September 2021, PSA identify areas where PSA can co-locate to hold PhilSys Registration for those who have not yet obtained a national ID.

By investigating additional initiatives, such as the co-location cooperation with PSA, the DSWD promised to improve the delivery of social assistance and the overall experience for its beneficiaries.
